Where would we be without the wonderful world of Craigslist? In December of the 2008th year, a bevy of "indie-folkers" meeted and greeted at Atlanta's own Atkin's Park where tequila shots were thrown and American Idols were shunned. Through these tribulations, a family was formed. Not brothers or sisters, but cousins.
Cousins consists of Erik Stefan, Carrie McFerrin, and Matt Jarrard, the sole survivors from the inital gathering. While coming from diverse musical backgrounds, they have formed a dynamic trio blending elements of folk, country, and indie rock. It's a deep, dark, sparse sound that evokes wide open spaces not found, but yearned for, in their Decatur, GA.
Matt's space cello gels the divergent songwriting styles of Carrie and Erik providing a consistent line through the family tree, while Carrie and Erik's harmonies, honed by wine-fueled practice sessions, evoke the classic duets absent in today's musical landscape.
Cousins are currently playing shows in their native Atlanta and beyond. They've been known to play house parties. Don't be shy. You know you want them to play at your house. They'll even bring the carrots and hummus.
