The Story
Rwanda Trading Company (RTC), founded in 2009, works to create economic stability for smallholder farmers by building transparent, resilient coffee supply chains and now processes about a quarter of Rwanda’s annual production. Operating sixteen wet mills, RTC manages everything from purchasing to export while investing in farmer training programs that have boosted partner revenues by 86% since 2013. After acquiring the Mwito Washing Station in 2017, RTC quickly integrated local farmers into its support programs, improving both production and consistency. The company has also invested in the surrounding community, including building a kindergarten for farmers’ children in 2019.
