The Story
This coffee originates from North Sumatra province in Indonesia, one of the island’s largest coffee-producing regions by volume. The area is known for its traditional wet-hulling process, a method adapted to the region’s unpredictable rains during drying season. After pulping, the coffee is partially dried to a specific moisture level before being hulled. It is then dried further until it reaches the proper condition for export. Production is primarily carried out by small, family-owned farms, although some larger estates also operate in the region.
