HISTORY

Bartee's coffee is a tale of determination, inspired by, and in honor of, her husband from who she inherited her farm. Guided by the wisdom of a seasoned mentor, Bartee learned the rich history and best practices of coffee cultivation.

Bartee believes that the key to producing top-tier coffee is nurturing soil health and safeguarding the Earth's purity. Bartee's commitment to sustainable practices shines through as she plants shade trees and enriches the soil with organic goodness, like cattle manure.

Although the natural landscape boasts ideal altitudes and topography for coffee growth, it comes with its own set of challenges. The steep slopes and dense forests present logistical puzzles, particularly in efficient and cost-effective coffee
transportation.

But here's where community spirit comes to the rescue. Bartee's fellow coffee comrades, who call her community home, unite in the quest for solutions. From lending a hand during harvests to brainstorming transport logistics, they embody the essence of
collective support.

Bartee is an eager enthusiast, always seeking fresh learning opportunities, training, and innovations within the dynamic world of coffee farming. And when the moment comes to savor the fruits of her labor, Bartee prefers the purity of coffee - six cups of black coffee
daily, served in the traditional Ethiopian Sini cup.

PROCESS

Throughout the harvest season, Bartee meticulously conducts her coffee collection during the evening hours, employing this strategic practice as a quality control measure to capitalize on the favorable cool temperatures. Demonstrating exceptional care in cherry selection, Bartee rigorously handpicks the cherries and subsequently engages in a thorough manual sorting process, ensuring that only the ripest cherries are retained.

Following this meticulous selection process, the cherries are thoughtfully spread out on elevated drying beds, where they are left to air dry for an approximate duration of 20 days. This methodical approach underscores Bartee's commitment to producing coffee of the highest quality.
